Speedbag Champ — Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 7, 2026 · Operated by Athletic Interpretations ("we", "us") · Contact: eras.noel@athleticinterpretations.com

This Privacy Policy explains what the Speedbag Champ mobile applications for iOS and Android (the "App") collect, how that information is used and shared, and the choices and rights you have. The App is a companion to the Speedbag Champ smart speed bag and connects to it over Bluetooth. This policy applies to both the iOS and Android versions of the App.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information. When you create an account you provide an email address and password, or sign in with Google or Apple. When you use Google or Apple sign-in, we receive your account email address and, where available, your display name and profile photo URL from that provider. With Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your real email address; we then receive Apple's private relay address instead.
  • Profile information. A unique username, an avatar chosen from the App's preset characters (no photo upload), your country and — for U.S. users — your state (chosen from a list, not detected from your device), an optional city you may type in, and an optional "speedbag start date" (the date you began speed bag training — this is not your date of birth).

Information created when you use the App

  • Training and activity data. Punch/hit counts, punches-per-second rates, session durations, race and round times, challenge and tournament results, freestyle session stats, personal bests, win/loss records, session history, and the name of the bag device you connected to.
  • Social features. Your friends list (other players you add), challenge invitations, lobby participation, and your presence status (online, available to race, currently training). During live modes (head-to-head races, tournaments, the live training room), your username, avatar, region, and live hit counts are broadcast to other participants in real time.
  • Push notification data. A Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token, together with basic device information (device model, operating system, app version) used to deliver notifications reliably, and your in-app notification preferences.
  • Usage analytics (iOS only). The iOS App uses Google Firebase Analytics, which automatically records app opens, screen views, general usage events, device type and model, operating system version, and a coarse, non-precise region derived from your IP address. We do not use this data for advertising and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The Android App does not include an analytics SDK.
  • Server logs and IP address. Like virtually all internet services, our backend provider (Google Firebase) processes your IP address as part of operating the service and protecting it from abuse (including app integrity checks via Firebase App Check).

Information stored only on your device

  • Freestyle session history summaries, arcade-mode initials and scores, and app preferences are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.

Bluetooth and the smart bag

  • The App uses Bluetooth Low Energy solely to discover, connect to, and read punch data from your Speedbag Champ smart bag. On Android 12 and later, Bluetooth scanning is declared "never for location." On older Android versions (11 and below), the operating system itself requires the Location permission to perform any Bluetooth scan; even there, the App does not collect, store, or transmit GPS or device location.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your precise location (GPS), contacts, photos or media library, camera or microphone data, health records or data from Apple Health / Health Connect, financial or payment information, or browsing history. The App contains no third-party advertising SDKs and shows no third-party ads. We do not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not request the iOS App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not track.

2. How we use your information

  • Operate the App's core features: counting hits, timed rounds, races, reaction drills, freestyle sessions, and syncing your training history to your account.
  • Power social and competitive features: leaderboards (global, country, and state), live challenges, head-to-head races, tournaments, the live training room, friends, and the live world activity map (which places activity by self-declared country/state — never by GPS).
  • Send notifications you'd expect, such as challenge invites, tournament turns, and friend activity, subject to your notification settings.
  • Maintain and secure the service: authentication, abuse and cheating prevention, app-integrity verification (Firebase App Check with Apple App Attest / Google Play Integrity), and diagnosing problems.
  • Understand aggregate usage to improve the App (Firebase Analytics, iOS only).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

For users in the European Economic Area / UK, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (operating the App and your account), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, service improvement), consent where required (e.g., push notifications), and legal obligations.

3. What other players can see

Speedbag Champ is a social training game. By design, the following is visible to other users of the App: your username, avatar, country/state (and city if you added one), scores and leaderboard entries, training stats shown in live modes, win/loss records, and online/availability status. Your email address is never displayed in the App. On iOS you can turn off the sharing of your online status in the App's settings (the same control is coming to Android); signing out removes you from live presence on both platforms. You can always decline or ignore challenges and friend requests.

4. How your information is shared

  • With other users (by design): as described in Section 3.
  • With service providers (processors): we use Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, App Check, and — on iOS — Analytics) to host and process data on our behalf. Google processes this data under its Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms. We require service providers to protect your data to at least the standard described in this policy.
  • Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google or Apple, your use of those sign-in services is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy respectively.
  • Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Athletic Interpretations.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this policy would continue to apply until replaced.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Advertising for the App on other platforms

We promote Speedbag Champ by running ad campaigns on platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (including YouTube and Google Ads), and TikTok. If you see or interact with one of our ads on those platforms, those platforms may collect data about that interaction (such as ad views, clicks, and app installs) using their own cookies, identifiers, and measurement tools, acting under their own privacy policies — see Meta, Google, and TikTok. The platforms may provide us aggregated, non-identifying campaign statistics (for example, how many people installed the App after seeing an ad). The App itself contains no SDKs from these advertising platforms and does not send them your personal data. You can manage ad preferences directly in your Facebook/Instagram, Google, and TikTok account settings.

6. Data retention and deletion

  • We keep your account and training data while your account is active.
  • Delete in the App (iOS): you can permanently delete your account and associated data via Profile → Delete Account (you may be asked to re-authenticate first). This removes your profile (including email, username, and region), training sessions and history, friends list, presence data, leaderboard entries, notification tokens and settings, and username reservation. The same in-app deletion is coming to the Android App; until then, Android users can delete by request below with identical effect.
  • Delete by request: you can also request deletion at any time by emailing eras.noel@athleticinterpretations.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Account deletion request." We will complete the deletion within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
  • Anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you (for example, a global daily punch counter) may be retained.
  • Locally stored data (freestyle history, arcade scores) stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
  • Signing out does not delete your data; uninstalling the App does not delete your server-side account — use the deletion options above.

7. Data storage, security, and international transfers

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure (servers located in the United States) and encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Access to user data is restricted, and app-integrity checks (Apple App Attest / Google Play Integrity) help keep illegitimate clients out. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable industry-standard measures to protect your information. If you use the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information is transferred to and processed in the United States; where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses as implemented by our processor, Google.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at eras.noel@athleticinterpretations.com and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your choices and rights

  • Access, correction, deletion, portability. You can view and edit profile details in the App, delete your account in the App or by email (Section 6), and request a copy of your data by emailing us.
  • Notifications. Turn push notifications off in the App's notification settings or your device settings at any time.
  • Online status. Turn off "show online status" in the App's settings (iOS; coming to Android), or sign out to leave live presence.
  • Guest mode. Arcade mode can be used without creating an account.
  • EEA/UK residents have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
  • California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to know, correct, and delete personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit.
  • To exercise any right, email eras.noel@athleticinterpretations.com. We may need to verify your identity (for example, by confirming control of the account email). An authorized agent may act for you where the law allows.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and update the effective date above; for material changes we will provide notice in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
